New Furniture!
I am so excited because my parents (thanks to a garage sale, the teacher's best friend!) just acquired for me a cool new item for my classroom.....an antique school desk! I do not have an actual picture of the desk yet but it looks similar to this:

Now I am wondering, what to do with this awesome desk!?!? A few thoughts ran through my head, I know that I want the students to use it, and I want it to be a positive thing for them (not time out :-). Then I thought, I would turn to the experts, you guys! Leave me a comment and let me know how you think I should use it!

What about using it as a "special" writing center or workplace? Choose a student who is really working hard and doing a good job and let that be their seat for the day.

ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. I also teach first. What about using it as the seat of the day. Or if you have a teacher's helper, maybe they could seat there??? Love the blog!
ReplyDeleteA teacher in my team had a desk just like this and she used it for her student of the week! It was right next to her desk so they were sort of the class helper too!
ReplyDeleteKristy's suggestion is pretty good. It will motivate kids do their best at school. BTW, how much did you spend on that antique desk chair?
