Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! 2 Freebies!!!!

Hope you wore green so you didn't get pinched;) Sorry it took so long to post this....better late than never right?!?! This a St. Patrick's day writing activity that I did with my students last week and they loved it! Luckily the art teacher at my school had students make a four leaf clover with a pot of gold so I didn't have to do that part in my classroom. I made this sentence starter for my students to finish and cut and glue on each leaf on the clover. My favorite is the one that says " I am lucky because I have the best teacher."~ Reminds me of why I teach;) Click on any of the pictures to grab your own freebie!

Wanted!

I saw this idea on Pinterest (my newest obsession)! I don't know why it took me so long to start. There are so many great ideas on there! Anyways I saw this idea for a cute way for students to show the different ways to make numbers. I also thought it could be a good way for students to show word families, fact families, or vocabulary too. You can find the template I made HERE (I couldn't find one from the link on pinterest). Let me know what kind of other ideas you come up with! Here are some pictures of the number one we did.My camera does not have any flash...sorry they came out so dark but hopefully this gives you an idea of what it looks like.

Monster Mash!

I LOVE Halloween!  It was always been one of my favorite holidays.  Of course we try to incorporate some educational Halloween activities into our October lesson plans.  A super fun activity that I did with my kids this past week was making our own monsters.  This is something that The Lesson Plan Diva and Plug-and-Plan have also done in the past.  I let the kids chose a mouth, nose, and some eyes.  They free cut a head or body and just created!  It was really cool to see what they came up with.  After they finished their monster, it was time to write!  I wrote some questions on the board to try and help direct their writing.  We also incorporated some Editing mini-lessons into our writing.  The kids did great with this! 

Columbus who????

At my school in Kindergarten we cover all the American Holidays. Each year when I am teaching this I am always wanting reinforcement activities. It seems like a month after we have talked and talked about Christopher Columbus they have forgotten. And truthfully I realize why.....we talk about a holiday and then move on. I needed a way to spiral the holidays so they would not be forgotten. So I created this holiday packet with games, assessments, and activities to reinforce the holidays throughout the year. Each holiday has it's own fact card, name of the month it is observed, as well as words and pictures associated with the holiday.  The goal is that after discussing a couple holidays students can sort the cards and month according to the holiday. This pocket chart activity could stay in rotation as you discuss more holidays. To check it out click on the picture below!
